Jesus

Who Is Jesus?

Belief in God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit is at the heart of our faith. Christians believe that Jesus is God’s Son. Jesus reveals to us that God is our Father and that God is available to us through the Holy Spirit.

God has best revealed himself through the bible. God has also shown us most clearly through the gift of his Son, Jesus Christ the fullness of himself. God makes himself known to each person through his Son, by the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Christian faith is not a human invention. There are signs of God’s existence and handiwork in creation for anyone to read (Acts 14.15–17). But we believe in the way we do because God has come to seek us out and has made himself known to us.

C.S. Lewis, a well-known Anglican author, wrote of Jesus, “Either this man was, and is, the son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronising nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.”

Yes, Jesus’ name is the name above all names, and His star-breathing, storm-calming, miracle-working power is second to none. Yet, He is also the human Jesus, the personal friend who knows what we are going through and cares about us. That’s why the Bible also calls Him “Immanuel”, God with us.

'The most important decision any person can ever make is to become a disciple of Jesus Christ. It’s the best thing anyone can do.'

so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.

Jesus Cares!

Does Jesus care about you? Yes, He does!

How do we know this?

Often we tell ourselves that we are unable to come close to God’s love because of our history, our failures and our shortcomings. Sin and our brokenness have separated us from God and we can never make up for our separation from God by self-improvement or empty good works.

So how can we accept what we have not earned? The Bible says that nothing in all of creation can separate us from the Love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. And to accept God’s love is to trust his patient, forgiving and gracious stance towards us. Only God has the power to free us from the guilt, shame and condemnation that we experience in our life. Jesus gives us a life of wholeness and completeness. All we have to do is turn to Christ.

A new beginning...

To be made whole, or to be saved, is to submit to God and His plan and purpose for our lives. It is a turning away from our old ways and turning to Jesus, to ask him for the forgiveness of our sins and to give us new life in him.

Romans 10:9 says: “if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Salvation is God’s free gift to all people and we become his beloved children.

It is an irrevocable acceptance into the family of God and it is an empowerment to live a life wholly and fully with the purpose of reflecting God’s goodness and love to the rest of his creation.

If you are not sure whether you are right with God or you know in fact that you need Jesus in your life, you can choose to follow Him right now by praying a prayer of surrender and acceptance to Jesus.

Dear Jesus, I’m praying this prayer because I know that I have done wrong by living without you. I am sorry and I trust that you will forgive me. I accept your love and grace for me and ask that you would be my Lord. Help me believe in you and love you every day, and help me to show the world what you are like and how great your love is for me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Congratulations! To pray these words with a true and open heart to Jesus is the beginning of the most important and life-changing course you will ever go on: the journey to follow Jesus. Please let us know if you’ve just made a commitment to Jesus and prayed this prayer by clicking the button below.
